Off-roading Civic SI at Lava Bed National Monument

So the Cedar Lodge Hotel's 4 out of 5 rating on Kayak was a little misleading. Turns out, for starters, that it was a Motel, second as we drove into the parking lot we noticed two police officers in the lobby for reasons we still don't know, and finally, when walking back to our car after checking in, we found two guys peering through the windows, presumably deciding what they'd like to take. They quickly took off after we noticed them. We prepared for their return by completely emptying the car! On a lighter note, The motel itself was actually pretty clean, so I we can't really complain, for the price. We also made friends with a new animal hanging off the wall! What's up with Motels and animal heads?

We awoke the next day with the car still parked outside and all windows intact. Off to Lava Beds Monument.

Lava Beds National Monument, located in Tulelake, CA, turned out to much more fun than we originally anticipated. Turns out you able to wonder the caves withouta guide, much fun ensued as we explored the many lava-created caves. You could easily spend two days exploring these caves.

After a fun time caving, we got back in the car and asked the GPS to help us find our way to San Francisco. Two left hand turns later we found ourselves off-roading down an unpaved, rock-filled road better fit for a Jeep, not a Civic. With the help of Kyle clearing the way and a top speed of 11 mph we successfully navigated the trail!

Finally, before arriving in San Francisco, we found ourselves at an In-and-Out Burger. Kyle's first time. I got myself a Double-Double Animal Style!
